As I mentioned in another post - while the news is chortling over New
Orleans being spared, nobody is reporting on the destruction of adjacent St.
Bernard Parish. The parish is underwater for miles and miles (my MIL's home
is one of those affected. Two high schools are now piles of rubble, the
civic center is half caved in and half under water. We still don't know
about my daughter's (actually my) house - it's too far down in the Parish
for anyone to have gotten to yet. One of my SIL's cousins, a social worker
who was in charge of a group of foster children was forced to leave a church
with the children when flood waters started rising, and did not show up at
the alternate shelter, she's still missing.

Wow. I did hear St. Bernard Parish mentioned at lunch on CNN. They were
saying that it and several others there have NO levy system to help with the
water. It sounds awful. :(

I've had such a lot to do for the past day or two that I've hardly had any
time to post, although I've been trying to keep up about the hurricane.
I don't really know what to say, because it's so terrible and to have to
leave beloved pets behind is something I don't even want to contemplate.
My hearts goes out to everyone already affected and those still in danger.
I wish there was something I could do to stop it, but we are all powerless
against Mother Nature.

damn, purrs and prayers for the county and all the people/animals left

everyone expected. Mother Nature's wrath sure is something else.

It's sad when you stoop so low to take delight in misfortunes. And yes
I do say delight because you get your rocks off piggybacking her posts.
Get off her back for a day or two, she has enough on her plate already.
When you've lived through what the people in NO have these past hours
then comment until then STFU, no one wants to hear your drunken squalls.

Nobody is delighting in anything. Except for maybe you - you seem to
be delighting in making excuses for animal neglect and cruelty.
I hope the a.sholes get arrested for it, too. And fined big bucks.

Unfortunately what she says might be true! If CN's relatives had planned
ahead and had a proper emergency plan the dogs would be safe and in no
danger. But they didn't. Hopefully the dogs are alive but their chances
aren't good due to the actions of CN's idiot relatives and their
negligence. I mean not having a proper emergency plan ahead of time for
all of them and their animals? What a bunch of morons.

This certainly raises an interesting question.
If someone sticks their face in s**t and then goes parading
around in public, is it heartless to tell them that they have
s**t on their face?

I'm so sorry about your MIL's house and yours/your daughter's, Catnipped. I
hope somehow your daughter's house is not too badly damaged. I hope your
SIL's cousin will be found and helped to safety, soon, as will any children
with her. Katrina just walloped everything in it's way. Thank goodness for
small mercies that the levies did not fail. Nature can make human
destruction look paltry.
I've told my three to keep purring for all storm victims.
