Sometimes there seems to be a wonderful force helping us!
We foster for a rescue group; one of our fosters, a 6-month old
boy, was adopted last week, but they asked us to hold him until they
could pick him up on Sunday evening.
On Saturday morning, it dawned on us that we hadn't seen him (we
happened to have quite a few other cats/kittens, so it wasn't until we
did a roll call that we realized it.) We searched the house most of
the day, but couldn't remember an opportunity for him to have escaped.
At around 5pm on Saturday, I bowed to the inevitable and started
walking around the neighbourhood. A man 3 doors down told me that he'd
seen a small cat matching his description following an older man down
the street. I headed off several blocks in that direction, calling his
name (which he'd had for only a week or so, so I wasn't too hopeful).
Finally I returned home, got in the car, and traced a grid through the
area, up one block, down the next, handing out my phone number to
people sitting on their front porches.
I ended up at the top of my street, and as I got about 10 doors away
from my house, I saw some neighbours doing yard work and asked them if
they'd seen him. "Yes!" said the man "The dog next door chased a
little cat into my garage about 1/2 hour ago."
I pulled into their driveway and we ran to the garage. The man cleared
some stuff out of a corner at the back, and I was on my hands and
knees, calling out. I heard a tiny "Mew!" and the man
cried out "There he is!"
I don't even remember how I did it, but a second later I had him
scruffed and pulled into my arms -- it was indeed my lost boy!!!
One second I was worrying about what I'd say to the adopters, and how I
would word the Missing posters, and the next I was hugging him tight!
Once home, he ran to the food bowl and then curled up for a long nap on
the couch -- I guess he'd had quite an adventure.
We still don't know how he escaped, but when he went to his new home
last night, he went with a warning.
But wasn't that a miracle!??? I can hardly believe it.

Hooray! I'm glad you found your little escape artist, and that he was safe
and well, other than scared when you did.

A miracle indeed, and one very lucky kittie. Hope he has found his forever
home and they keep him indoors. :)

This is great news. Purrs for him to have a long, happy life with his
new family. MLB
