Marina - 29 Aug 2005 05:21 GMT
Last night I awoke in the middle of the night to scuffling sounds from
the bathroom. Miranda hasn't been chasing TP greeblings since we got
home from the island, and I thought sleepily that, ok, now she's
rediscovered them. The scuffling went on and on, and I couldn't get back
to sleep, so I finally got up and went to have a look-see. When I turned
on the lights in the bathroom, I saw Miranda sitting to the side and
looking on with approval as Caliban was killing the White Snake on a
Roll. I'm quite sure that Mir showed him how to do it. It was a carnage!

Well, you are in for a ride, aren't you! You know, I've never had a cat
interested in toilet paper in my whole life! Surprises me.

Mine goes after the shower curtain as if it was an evil villain.  I can't
tell you how many we've gone through.  Now, we're just sticking with the
cheap curtain liners.

Mimi used to like to hide behind the curtain (either side) and poke at
whomever/whatever was on the other side.

What, you've never come home to wall-to-wall toilet paper?
It's a common enough problem so that they sell a gadget
called a "feline foiler" designed to prevent its unrolling
when under attack.  Not all of mine showed an interest, and
the few that did outgrew it, but it can be a nuisance.
(Especially if the only possible place for the litterbox is
in the bathroom, so you can't just shut them out of there
when you're not home.)

ROFL!  Good Miranda, teaching Caliban all of the tricks to drive you
crazy.  For what it's worth, Rita hasn't attacked the Great White
Roll since the boys went away. I guess it was just her frustration
at having HER bedroom shut off from access.  She's just a happy little
mommy's girl now.

Tee hee! Now you have TWO defenders against the deadly White Snake, Marina.
=o) YOU never know, it might have come looking for you in the night!  But I
don't envy you the mess.

Knock on wood, Nina  seems to have lost interest in the White Snake, but I
can't put out a roll of paper towels in  my kitchen because she's still
VITALLY interested in them. <G>

Why do they never teach each other good habits?

I have sleep apnea, and so have to wear a breathing mask at night. The
CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) machine blows enough air
into me to keep my throat from collapsing shut intermittently. One
morning recently, I awoke about 5 AM to find that, while I was still
wearing the mask, the air hose was no longer attached to the mask.  I
plugged it back into place, and shut my eyes.  Fifteen seconds or so
later, the hose was detached again.  At that point, I woke up further,
and found that Cinders was playing "chase the snake" with my air hose.
Fortunately, I was able to distract her from the game and get back to
sleep for another hour, until my clock went off.

Not only is my air hose snake-shaped, but it also makes a continuous
hissing noise, particularly when detached from the mask.

In other words  "I must protect my Paw from the snake attacking his
face! (And then maybe he'll feed me...)" =o)
