I just thought of something after the carrier/hurricane post (esp. since you
are in FL, it is probably something that will come up someday). I often see
nice carriers at garage sales for less than half the price at stores. It
might be a good thing to look around when you see them and maybe you can
find another carrier inexpensively.

Thanks, Karen, I'm definitely going to have to look into it in case we need
to evacuate at some time. We're lucky that we're a bit inland from Tampa
and also on the West Coast of Florida; seems more hurricanes strike the
eastern or southern coast of FL. Another plus is that we live in a tiny
little concrete block house. With any luck, we'll be moving from this
Godforsaken State in the next couple of years. I'd love to go back to Maui,
but that's a little cost prohibitive. :~)
Ideally, I'd like one large cat carrier or small dog carrier for Chloe and
Tyrone - their siblings and don't mind being stuck together at all, and then
a slightly smaller one for Miss Pua. She's going to outgrow the little one
I have if she eats any more. <g>

Another idea might be, freecycle, if you have one local
