Purrs for DH?

Aren't I the purr-hog today.

DH got attacked by a renegade swarm of bees. I don't think they were a
true Africanized colony or he'd probably be dead. But he has at least a
dozen stings and his right arm is about the size of his leg. I counted
12 stingers that I pulled out.
I hate to say I told you so, but I keep telling him to quit going after
bee hives when people call and want him to remove them from their
property. It is just getting to dangerous with the African bees in the
state now. He needs to just order the European bees from a catalogue if
he wants new ones.
He is also being a general jackass and won't go to the doctor, but I
don't think purrs can help that.

OUCH!  Obviously he doesn't need an epi-pen but purrs for the stings anyway.
Also purrs he doesn't continue to be a general jackass... maybe just a
leiutenant jackass?

African bees are the worst. They'll attack you just for wandering into
their territory and chase you up to a mile. I'm pretty sure these were
just mean. You can take a mean European hive and kill their queen and
replace her and they will become more docile, but you just have to kill
them all if the African bees mix with them. So far that hasn't happened
here.

Yeah, I stuffed him with Benedryl. I'd feel more sorry for him if he
wasn't so stubborn about going to the doctor. I"m still too busy saying
I told you so. He didn't have the bee suit on, just the hat & veil
because it was so hot. Duh.

Purrs for your DH, and for your own frustration. I'll bet he won't forget
his suit again after this, though. <Smirk> But thank goodness he at least
had the hat and veil on. I hope he heals up all right and soon, even so.

Ouchie! Can he take antihistamines? They should bring the swelling down and
ease pain. If he can't/won't, then ice-packing the area can help too. Keep
an eye on him for any delayed reaction.

Purrs!

The only time my first landlord heard me cuss was when I came in the
front door and reached back to shut it and there was a wasp on the
handle and it stung me!  I was NOT expecting that and let out a LOUD
F***! which shocked him until he saw WHY I swore!

Then he asked me if I was allergic and I had to say I didn't know but
we were about to find out.

oh my god, TONS of purrs and prayers that your DH starts feeling better
soon. Bee stings are not fun :(
I think you should drag him to the doctor anyway, in spite of whether he
wants to go or not.

Oh. NO.

Well, I'm sure there are anti-jackass purrs.  I'll send some
anti-histamine purrs right along, and check for the anti-jackass ones.
;)

It's illegal to keep bees here in town (NYC)-- you'd never guess it,
but people do.

People really do? In NYC? That is a scary thought. The allergic people
can die from bee stings, really fast.

*ONE* sting from a honey bee would kill me in less than 5 minutes.  I carry
an EpiPen, but that's only to give me enough time to get to the hospital.
Naturally I live in a state that was the first to be invaded by killer bees!

Only 4% of the entire population of the world is that allergic, I
understand. It is very sad when they are children. Summer camp and
other kid things can be very dangerous for them.
Killer bees are bad business. That's the Africanized ones I was talking
about. It's a bad deal because the government orders beekeepers to
destroy their entire operation when *one* hive becomes africanized.
There is a critical shortage of honey bees already. We can't survive
without them.

Yeah, I first knew I was allergic when I was taking the garbage out one day
and got stung on the very tip of my little toe.  Before I could make it back
inside my house I collapsed on my lawn in horrible pain.  It was lucky my
neighbor was outside cutting grass and saw me.  He ran over, scooped me up,
and sped to the hospital.  I barely made it in time (and that was only
because it was the first time in my life I'd been stung - allergies like
this get worse each time).

When I went to be tested by doctor told me I probably wouldn't even notice
the first 10 or so sticks (on my forearm right below the elbow) because the
venom they were using for testing was diluted 1 to 500,000 to start with.
After he stuck me the first time, he left to go see another patient.  A few
minutes later a nurse was passing my room and I called her in to ask if my
arm should be red and swollen from wrist to shoulder.  She *RAN* for the
doctor and he promptly called in about 5 other doctors to come see this
reaction!

I went for allergy shots for over two years.  They had to split the one shot
into two dosages for me and I would still have both arms swollen and red for
days afterwards.  I finally quit going because I never became inured to
them.

If I ever do get stung by a bee I guess I can lean over and just kiss my @$$
bye-bye.  And if I ever got caught by Africanized bees I wouldn't stand a
snowball's chance in h*ll of surviving it.

In fact, it's a good thing DH loves me so much 'cause he could get away with
the perfect murder just by catching a honey bee and letting it loose in the
house!  ;>

Sherry-- are the African bees less susceptible to mites?   It is
decimating the population here-- despite the illegal beekeepers.

I'm not sure, but I'll see if I can find out. Mites wipe out entire
hives of the domestic honey bees here, too. DH was showing me just the
other day how to check them for mites. It involved putting a couple
hundred in a quart jar with a cup of powdered sugar. You shake the
whole thing up, then let the bees out and see if there are black specs
in the powdered sugar. Those little buggers were plenty mad so I didn't
stick around to see the end of the experiment.

Purrs for your DH to recover quickly: that many stings aren't funny.
AAMOI my ex-wife (of unfond memory) was heavily allergic much
like CatNipped. Unfortunately at the bitter height of our divorce
proceedings it was winter and I couldn't find any bees or wasps
to let loose on her. (Just kidding, honest)

Purrs again

OMG, lots of  purrs comming y'alls way...

We're fighting with ground nesting hornets ourselves.  The Home Depot
guy gave me a look when I bought 6 cans of professional grade wasp and
hornet killer the other day!  He said "You've got quite a problem, I
guess".  You bet.  They've taken up residence in an unplanted, as yet,
flower bed.  (That bed may stay unplanted for awhile at this rate.  I'M
not taking a shovel in there!!!)

Anyhow, purrs for all concerned, even the general jackass!!!

Yikes!  Purrs for your DH but purrs for you too.  Must be so
frustrating to have to deal with that level of stubbornness!

ow ow OW! Purrs for your DH - Whilst not deathly allergic to one sting, I
reckon 12 would have me in hospital at least.

Ow ow ow.

Purrs for Larry and hopes that it doesn't ever happen again.  So far as I
know, I'm not allergic to bee stings, but the blasted things HURT!!  Can you
tell that I'd be about the last person to raise honey bees?
