Pics: Nikki in the snow

Well, we had a lot of snow yesterday, and today Nikki wanted to go for her
usual Sunday walkies. This time, I took the camera along. She doesn't seem
to mind the snow at all, she just plows ahead without that typical
one-step-shake-paw-second-step-shake-paw business, but she didn't want to
stay outside for more than 20 minutes, so maybe she got cold after all.

Wow, you are having snow already. Weather report for our country predicts
rain and more and more rain :(. I loved looking at the pics of Nikki in the
snow, especially the second one where she appears to be sniffing the bush.
Best wishes,

That rain reached us during the night, and now the snow is raining away.
:o(  It's so dark around here when there's no snow. We only have daylight
from c. 8.30-15.30 now, and it will be less and less until the winter
solstice. If it's cloudy, there is a sort of half dusk all day. I hope it
gets colder and we get more snow soon, to lighten everything up a bit.

Yeah, it's getting pretty dark around here too.  Now that it's winter, it
gets dark at 6 pm.  It is so hard to get used to because in the summer it
stays light out until at least 6:45 ;-)

LOL! In the summer here, it stays light almost through the night.

Yeah, I remember that from when I used to live in Yellowknife.  In the
summer, the sun would set but only to just below the horizon and you could
see it travel around for a few hours until it would rise again.  It never
got dark out at all.  I loved that, it seemed to give me a ton of energy.
But in the winter it would rise at about 10 am and be dark again by 3 pm.
Pretty depressing, everyone would just hibernate.

I live in Nashville, Tennessee, and found that it was sleeting hard
this morning when I headed out to my car to go to work.  Fortunately,
the sleet didn't last for long.  At sunset last night, the
temperature was about 70 degrees Fahrenheit, but a cold front came
through and it dropped to freezing overnight.  Tonight is supposed to
get down into the low 20's Fahrenheit, and tomorrow's high is
supposed to be in the low 40's.

Winters in the mid-South tend to be rainy, rather than snowy, but the
temperature can go up or down dramatically if a front moves through.
We have actually had a couple of mid-winter tornados as a result;
usually such whirlwinds are primarily a late spring/early summer
hazard.

Ain't that the truth. I love going up north during a blizzard, it feels
downright warm! The wet slushy ice we always get penetrates anything you wear
and gets into your bones. It's impossible to stay comfortable in a Louisiana
ice storm, or freeze, or icky weather. It's all about humidity *bleh*

It can be fun. Yesterday I was on my way for lunch at my Mum's, and on the
train station there was a man with a puppy. The puppy went with its nose to
the ground, and every time it came upon a clump of snow, it quickly gobbled
it up before the owner could stop it. Well, snow in itself can't really be
bad, but on a train station it's probably not very clean. Finally the owner
picked up the puppy and carried it to keep it out of the snow. He was so
cute (and the puppy wasn't hard on the eyes, either ;).

The snow is probably too cold for the puppy to gobble just like that. Did
you talk to the man, Marina, him being cute and all?

Me, talk to a d*g person? I wouldn't dare! What would Frank and Nikki say?

I don't know if Soncek is weird or something, but he is very interested if I
come home smelling of a strange cat or even a d*g. At the beginning I was
hoping he would get jealous and become more clingy (yeah right!), but now
I've reconciled to it.

But he's clingier now than before, right?  Betty becomes very
interested when I've eaten out.  She has to sniff my breath very
closely!

Do all cats have at least some clinginess?  A lot of people I know
have cats that I would say are considerably more clingy than mine.
But their slaves don't seem to notice, and seem able to just go about
their business, while I'm often paralyzed by Betty.
polonca12000 - 26 Nov 2003 22:00 GMT
Soncek checks my breath also. I wouldn't say that he is clingier, but he
does lie on my stomach on his own terms, which is a great progress.

Lovely shots, Marina -- Nikki is such a cool ladycat! Sooo cute in her

brrrrrr! We had a half an inch. It's coming down a bit fluffy now. Very cold
though. Nicky looks like she had fun.

Great pics, as usual. We had a front come through early this morning
which dropped our high to the mid 40s (F) after a stretch of mid 70s,
but snow is kind of unusual here. Sammy loves to play in it when we do
get some, though.

Speaking of the cold front, Rocky must  have sensed it coming. For the
first time he didn't want out last night when I went to bed, so he
spent the night inside. Don't know if he used the box or not, as he
was awfully eager to go out this morning even though it was still
pretty nippy.

Sounds like Rocky is learning just how good a cat's life can be, compared to
his old life.

Nikki looks like she belongs in the snow!  In the first picture, she
looks like she is the legendary Finnish Snow Beast.  In the second,
she looks sweet, like she's a Christmas husky cat.  In the third pic,
she's a stylish street cat.

Yes, the black cat, white background, and red harness all together are
very striking.

Of course Nikki knows she's beautiful and elegant.  Frank is also
handsome and elegant.  How could they not be when they get excellent
care from their servant.

Pam S. who thinks that Nikki is a very grande dame.
