Haven't given you folks much of an update on her lately, but my computer was
down and I've been really busy. I sat with her in her isolation bedroom
(vet trip on Saturday pending possible hurricane) yesterday morning and she
was just all purrs and affection. I left the room to feed and water my
other cats, make my husband breakfast and coffee; wasn't gone for more than
45 minutes, but I came back to a room full of vomit!
Naturally I was immediately concerned. Upon close inspection, it was all
food, just solid food, but there was so much of it! I cleaned it up and
kept an eye on her for the rest of the day; even sleeping in the bedroom
with her last night.
This morning she looks so much better! Somehow I think she just needed to
throw up! She had her first solid bowel movement, (yay!), her fur is
starting to thicken and she's active. She wants out of the room instead of
just laying around in a stupor. This is really encouraging considering I
brought her inside on Friday and it's now Wednesday.
She had quite a few scrapes and cuts when she arrived and those are healing
nicely. She now cries for affection and meows. I'm praying she turns up
negative for AIDS or Leukemia on Saturday so I can start integrating her
into the household.
So far, so good. She's eating 1 bowl of food a day and drinking 1 bowl of
water - which is normal. She's not so skinny and raunchy looking, no signs
of respiratory infection and her eyes are brilliantly clear.
I'm a happy Meowmie. :~)

That is excellent news! Purrs for a FLV/FIV free test.
Were there worms in her throw-up? or in her stool?

Nothing noticeable. I've been checking. She may have hookworm, which of
course is microscopic. No blood, just food in the vomit and the stool is
normal colored. I've got my fingers crossed she's okay.

! Purrs for a FLV/FIV free test.
I've also put the Furballs on full purring mode. As I won't be able to
get to a PC for the next 5 days (I am having a long break to stroke the
furballs and keep them purring!) I'll be thinking of you and I hope for
good news on Tuesday when I get back
She is lovely. Those eyes!!!!

Yeah, she's got gorgeous eyes! I'll see if I can get some new pics of her
up on her website to show you folks how well her fur is growing in. She
needs a brushing, but I'm waiting on everything until the vet. Thanks for
the well-wishes!

One of our cats has been known to regurgitate food undigested if she's
wolfed it down too quickly. If it is only a one off, perhaps she just
ate a bit too quickly.
Hope all goes well at the vet on Saturday, and that she is given a
clean bill of health.
Glad to hear she is doing so well.
Kate.

I'm thinking that's all it was. My two completely healthy cats have their
episodes as well!

Need new pictures! I am just praying she has no diseases. I imagine she
*does* have worms, and that may also have been part of the throw up episode.

There's a good chance that the vomiting is because she's not used to
decent food yet-- or because she's bolting her food. It often takes
former outside kitties awhile to stop eating like something is going
to eat *them.* Stinky was a huge puker his first year-- he would
snarf up his breakfast, and then happily bounce off the walls.
Uuurrk.
And that's very good news about the bowel movement. All sound great!
This is bringing back such memories of bringing Stinky home-- I saw
all the same transformations happen, really like magic.

It's nice to know that there was another stray out there as close to death
as my little miss Pua. My husband said she would have probably died that
day if we hadn't taken her in. I'm just anxiously awaiting Saturday for her
vet appt.!

Sounds great. The vomiting may have been caused by just eating too fast.

Sometime kitties vomit when they eat too much too soon. I think she'll be
ok, you are taking such good care of her.
Lots of purrs and best wishes for the vet tests to be negative,

Purrs for a clean bill of health. I imagine that both her digestive
system and she might just have to get used to good food.
Spotty had some slight diarrhea (and VERYstinky) when she first came
inside, too, which I attirbuted to the change in diet from the meow
mix I put out for neighborhood cats and the good stuff I feed indoors.
I still find a pile of mostly undigested food every so often - always
the dry, never gooshy food. I sure she's the one, and that she is
still scarfing down food too fast on occasion. Last night was the
latest. I KNOW it was her because I put out enough dry to last the
night like I usually do when I got home. About a half hour later she
was on the recliner with me when she threw up. I went to get a paper
towell and noticed she'd eated ALL the dry food, and most mornings
there's still a few pieces in the bowl. That's probably my fault,
since we were out of the Hills dry and I brought some of the outside
kitty food inside.
Speaking of food, and this is off the thread topic, I notice a
definite difference in my girls appearance and demeanor now that I'm
feeding the Hills. I think they may have been happiest with the Fancy
Feast, but after I starting reading the group I upgraded to Iams. Once
Sammy's heart murmur was diagnosed it's been either Hills X/d or c/d.
With the prescription food (both dry for free feeding and some gooshy
food morning and night, they seem more active and just look healthier.
