Persia is being particularly chatty today; I don't know why.  She keeps
looking at me and uttering "Ow! Ow ow!  MROW!"  I follow her around,
thinking maybe she'll give me some clue.  Nope, can't be the food, she has
plenty of that (although she is extra vocal in the kitchen).  Nope, she
doesn't want in the closet.  She's already played with the boxes and bags
that are laying around.  She's been looking out the window but I don't see
anything outside that would have her so excited; no squirrels, birds,
chipmonks, no lizards on the tree.

Makes me wonder, could it be the weather?  It's clouding up and the
temperature is dropping; it's been balmy.  I also live in an earthquake zone
on the New Madrid fault, although we haven't had a measurable quake since
1976.

Maybe she's just a chatty cat today.

Persia is trying to tell you how good it feels to no longer be possessed by
Elvis, dear. Let her vent. There was a time when I would have welcomed Elvis
nipping at my knees while I was on the john......but not these days. Or was
that Jack Frost? No, I grew up in Miami, Jack Frost didn't do anything
there, much less "nip" at anyone. There is a Xmas song where he's nipping at
something........but it's all foreign to this southerner: "Chestnuts (eeew)
roasting on an open fire (call 911), Jack Frost nipping at your
++++".........

NOSE....well, that's a whole different ballpark! I dunno 'bout Elvis nipping
my nose, but our cats have never done that, thank goodness. Shows you how
folks who don't experience the "winter fun" can't relate to its music
either, just like we came from a distant galaxy.....

The song was popular back in the 50's, and  I doubt seriously if you
are old enough to remember it.  I was trying to remember who sang it,
and it's a possibility it was either Perry Como or Bing Crosby, but I
could be wrong.

About all I can remember of the song is:

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire,
Jack Frost nipping at your nose.
???????
Folks dressed up like eskimos.

I don't think I would have like Elvis nipping at my nose, but as I
recall I made the statement one time that he could put his shoes under
my bed anytime.

It was made famous by Nat King Cole.  It went like this:

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire,
Jack Frost nipping at your nose,
Yuletide carols being sung by a Choir,
And Folks dressed up like eskimos.

Every body knows...
A turkey and an open fire,
Help to make the season bright.
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow,
Will find it hard to sleep tonight.

They know that...
Santa's on his way.
He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh.
and every mother's child is going to try,
to see if reindeer really know how to fly.

And so I'm offering you a simple phrase
for kids from one to ninety two.
Although it's been said many times, many ways...
Merry Christmas to you.

nose feels like

Thanks, Pam.  I used to be able to sing every word of it, but you know
what they say, "the minds the first to go".  I remembered the tune,
but for the life of me I couldn't remember the words or who made it
popular.

No, no, Nan; the mind's the second thing to go. I forget what goes first.

I love you, kid, for not thinking I'm old enough to remember that Xmas
song.......you've made my day. Kowabunga!

Love you, too, sweetie, but I'm probably old enough to be your mother.

BTW, for all the kids out there Kowabunga was from the Howdy Doody
show.
