This is the second week of using Catnipped's *wonderful* M$Excel spreadsheet
to track my clan's weights, and the results are:

Ernie lost .125 lb (yay)
Lizzie lost .0625 lb (not too good, she's not one of the fat ones)
Mimi lost .1875 lb (woohoo)
Moe lost .375 lb (she didn't need to lose any, she's "juicy" according to
TED)
Ping lost .09375 lb
Smokey gained .09375 lb (she found what Ping lost :D )
Tennessee lost .0625 lb (it's a start)
Weeble lost .125 (even though I give *him* food whenever he wants -
including the 'junk food' we feed the strays - but it's been cooler this
week and he's been a bit more active)

DH & I have been limiting their intake by *not* leaving food out all the
time.  However, if Lizzie, Moe, Ping, Smokey or Weeble asks for more later,
they do get a few kernels of crunchies, but we have to watch it or one of
The Fat Ones (Ernie, Mimi & Tennessee) will bully them away from the food
dish and eat it, although Lizzie is not one to be bullied, but Weeble is a
wussy boy, and Ping gets easily distracted.  Yesterday, I didn't latch the
food bin after I gave Lizzie a dozen crunchies, and after I bit I hear the
sound of plastic hitting plastic, and then crunching.  Tennessee had
attempted to knock over the bin to get at the food inside, but it fell
against the litterbox and didn't spill.  The lid did swing open, but the bin
is only 1/3 full so he couldn't reach it by sticking his head in the bin, so
the resourceful Crushinator that he is, was reaching in with a front paw and
snagging one crunchie at a time! Poor starving cats LOL

I'm glad you like it!  I sent the file to my vet so she could check their
weight loss (I'm worried about my three who at their ideal weight losing)
and she sent this back: "Kitties should lose no more than 2% to 3% of their
weight per month."  So I think I'm going to add a "percentage" column to the
file to make sure Sammy stays within the best range.

Let me know when you get that figured out - I'd be interested to know as
well

All I did was use the last column to add a formula that takes the total
weight lost and divides that by their starting weight (for instance, in cell
K7 I put the formula "=SUM(J7/B7)"), and then formatted the cell as a
percentage.  Do you want me to send you the new file, or can you add this
OK?

I don't need the whole file - just copied your formula into K7 and did "fill
down" (CTRL+D).  Seems to be working.  That means that, so far, Tennessee
has lost just a scoonch under 1%.  In one week.  But he only lost an ounce
(down from 16 lb to 15lb 15oz).

I think that's probably OK, just slow it down a tad so he doesn't lose more
than 3% in one month.  There's a small danger of hepatic lipodosis if they
lose too much too fast (one ounce seems like so little to us giants, but
when you look at it as percentage of total body weight, it's a lot to them).
I don't that that's the case with Tennessee, it could just be that he's lost
a little fluid the first week (don't we all when we diet!), but just be
aware of it for future diet control.

I could have weighed him after a trip to the litterbox, too.

LOL!  True.  Speaking of which, try to weigh them at the same time of day
every week.

Every Friday AM, after I get up & make *my* bathroom run and weigh myself, I
weigh all the cats, one by one.  Lizzie is a challenge, since she doesn't
like to be held much, and becomes sharp and pointy by the time I get her to
the scale.  Smokey I have to chase, Tennesse & Ernie about give me hernias,
Weeble was sared to death of the scale the first time & just about
disemboweled me when I tried to put him on the scale, but he's fine with it
now.  Mimi, I just plop down on it, and that's about when she wakes up and
gives me the "how dar you wake me" look.  Ping is a monkey-boy, and squirms
& wiggles the whole time.
