M*ths....

I was out on my recumbent trike tonight. Lit up like a Christmas tree, as
usual when cycling at night - three front lights, three rear lights, acres
of reflectives...

Discovered that of a summer night, in the dark, when yours truly on 'bent is
outshining the moon by a significant factor, that m*ths find me an
attractive thing to fly around... alongside... towards.... land on....

Just thought I'd mention it ;-)

Cheers, helen s

Well, you won't have any trouble keeping up with that moth diet you were
trying!

I'm picturing you on your bike, throatily singing like Marlene
Dietrich, "Und if zey burn zeir vings, I know I'm not to blame . . . "

Something is wrong with me. When I saw the subject line, I immediately
thought "maths", and had to re-read your post several times for the
realisation to hit!

If there's something wrong with you, there's something even more wrong
with me. I read maths first, too, then I read myths. Finally I realised
it was, indeed, m*ths.

I got it straight away.   I really, really love m*ths.  Maybe I should try
the Helen method to attract them.  I'm learning to identify them and its so
fascinating.

They are fabulous creatures. Except when I'm fast asleep and woken with a
start as I find one crawling up my leg due to the fact I had the windows
open earlier in the evening. A privet hawk moth is a lovely thing, but not
when it's crawling up your leg at 3am....

A privet hawk moth is a lovely thing 24/7, think yourself lucky ;-)

A few years ago, when I lived in Wiltshire, I was mesmerised by a
'Hummingbird Hawk M*th' it was feeding from a broom bush. I watched it for
about 15 minutes.

I hope you didn't eat it! Or is that just butterflies?
