Neuticles

Bev - 18 Aug 2005 21:48 GMT My friend Lois, told me this story recently and suggested I post it on the newsgroup.
Lois visited her cat-loving doctor where they discussed cat matters instead of her health matters. Seems said Doc was adopted by a handsome young tom from the SPCA. The doc knew the tom needed neutering but was sad to have it done because the young fellow had the most beautiful male accoutrements.
The doctor said he was going to ask the vet if he did neuticles. (Blink, blink went Lois, who had never heard of the term). But the vet had and the doc told Lois on her next visit, the vet offered to do the op. for $80 for one addition and $140 for two!! The Doc said the cat would have to have two and the op went ahead. It was all a mighty success and the vet was so pleased he took photos of the finished product. Young tom has his neuticles and all is well. A footnote was a neat little card with two jelly beans attached!

Jellybeans!! LOL!
Bev, your post reminded me of a veterinarian's anecdote of how sometimes a client's pet serves as a projection of the client's self-image...(BTW-this vet would NOT do cosmetic procedures on dogs such as ear/tail docking.) He mentioned that some male owners of dogs, before having their animals neutered, asked if he implanted neuticals AND if they were available in larger sizes than the original organs!

But I'm so glad I had previous experience (Kensey RB was half-Burmese) as he's quite a handful! Luckily he's immensely good-natured & with a short memory span at his age so any contretemps is soon forgotten.

Smokey doesn't even seem to REALIZE that anything more happened to him than going to the vet's, having a long nap, eating all the food in sight, and coming home. In short, he is still convinced that he is a pimp (as if he ever WAS one.)

Mischief - 19 Aug 2005 07:26 GMT Oh I've heard of this term before. It's a subject we kinda avoid talking about becasue it generates a big debate, but we all believe the same thing
That it is a stupid horrendous idea and was definitely thought up by a male vet.
When we've talked about it, it's normally abotu dogs and owners who put them on their dogs so they don't look "altered"
Sheesh...

Marina - 19 Aug 2005 04:03 GMT > Young tom has his neuticles and all is well. A footnote was a neat > little card with two jelly beans attached! LOL! My sister's cat Linus is such a macho that he grew his own neuticles after being snipped. I knew he'd been neutered some time before, and then he proudly turned his back on me and lifted his tail, and I went, ...?? Didn't you have him neutered? Yes, she did, but he grew them back. They're just for show, though. Non-functional.

Vino never needed neuticles because his fur in the area just got puffier and it looks like he can still walk proudly in public because of it. I call them his little furry fake nuts ;-) To be perfectly honest though, I don't like to see obvious sex organs on pets. I dunno, but they are supposed to be cute and sex-less. It always shocks me to see the dogs and cats here in Thailand with their huge testicles, it's just not right on so many levels! -- Britta "There is no snooze button on a cat who wants breakfast." -- Unknown Check out pictures of Vino at: http://photos.yahoo.com/badwilson click on the Vino album

I remember walking down Broadway with my brother one day, and we fell in behind a guy walking a Boxer, and it's so much worse when the dogs have those super-short coats. My brother muttered "He needs a pair of Boxer shorts." :P

Neutered or not, "cute and sex-less" is not how I want my cats! (We neuter them for our own convenience, and to eliminate the suffering of homeless strays, but even if they're missing a few bits, I prefer my cats to be dignified, mature felines, not "cute".) In a perfect world, where there were loving homes waiting for all the kittens and puppies born into it, there'd be no need for neutering.

In a > perfect world, where there were loving homes waiting for all the kittens > and puppies born into it, there'd be no need for neutering. Not true. What about spraying? Litter, after litter of kittens, sucking the life out of the queen. Mamarian cancer. Fights.

wafflycat - 19 Aug 2005 11:17 GMT Glad to see you back, Bev.
As for the neuticles... to me, speaks volumes about the insecurities/inadequacies of the pet owner.... I wonder if they get silicone breast implants for their female cats... ;-)

Personally I hate getting any surgery done to the cats but I live in the real world and neutering and speying are prices that have to be paid to stop all the obvious disadvantages.

Along those lines, what about the need for 8-cup bras?

I can't find it, now, but someone once sent me a link to "bathing beauty" cats attired in bikinis (yep, with eight-cup bras).

I have absolutely *nothing* against neutering & speying - indded I'm pro-neuter/spey. All of my cats are neutered/speyed. What I find *seriously strange* is the need for cosmetic surgery on a pet... speaks volumes about the mental state of the owner if "neuticles" are deemed necessary...

Yeah, but even still, I think a set of Neuticles might be just what Dan M. needs.
