fairly natural phenominum or whether someone was doing a bit of
genetic experimenting????

Lynx are pretty rare, bobcats fairly common. If there's a female of
cat species in heat, it'd not be surprizing if a cat of a closely
related species got to her. Now the real question is whether or not
the kits will grow up to be able to breed. And if so, with each other
or with whichever is available of bobcats or lynx.

Granny,
Since female cats do no ovulate until they are bred, I suspect it was an act
of nature.
