I am trying to figure out if I need to be concerned about my Indy's weight.
He is a large male American short hair tabby. When I had him at the doctors
for his annual shots at the end of summer she told me that his weight was on
the high end of healthy. When I pressed her on this she said that there was
no factor for body size. Like I said he is a large male. He is probably two
inches taller in the shoulder when standing and four inches longer than the
neighbors cat. By the doctors method, both would have the same ideal weight.
I realize that it may be hard to do, but shouldn't the factor leg length or
shoulder to shoulder length or something to give an indicator of body size?
So, I am not sure what I am asking for. Just want to get some input.
Thanks, Scott
I'd say kind of like the old axiom "I'll know it when I see it." You'll
probably know if your cat is overweight when you see it. They'll be glaring,
otherwise I wouldn't worry. As far as I know there is no indicator of body
size. We have a large male also, does yours have that little piece of what I
call "sway skin?" He's really all muscle except for that. lol and that's the
momma's boy. Well not really, I named him, he often sleeps with me, my wife
is just softer.

Good information. From the chart I'd say that he is just a little heavy but
not bad.
Thanks
