About a week ago one of our cats, who was formerly hardly interested
in going outside, began staying out all the time. At first it would
come back and spend the night in the house, but now it merely comes in
to eat, and then begins to meow until we let it go back out.
We have two cats, who are brothers from the same litter. We have a pet
door, and the cats have been free to go in and out as they please,
except in bad weather. Generally they are in by 10:00 PM and locked
down until early the next morning.
Has anyone else experienced this sudden refusal of a cat to come in
the house?

Is he neutered? If not, he might be more interested in searching for
females than coming inside with you.

Camilla;
They are both neutered, and there have been no territorial
issues in the past. They are brothers from the same litter, and have
lived with us, and in our current home, since they we're around 6
weeks old.

Some fixed males will still show interest in females in heat. I have 2
neutered males who try their darndest to accomodate one of my females when
she's in heat. Maybe a new girl in town? Anything else different? Could
someone else be feeding him, letting him in?

I suppose there's always the possibility that someone else has taken
him in. We've asked around in the neighborhood, so far with no
results.
