I've been looking after my girlfriends cat. It has been in the house
for the last fortnight, but this morning managed to escape. I'm no cat
expert. What's the likelihood that he will find his way back??
I've left his food out, and kept the door open hoping that he will
return when he gets hungry. I will go looking for him tonight after
work, but i'm worried.

Was this cat an indoor-only cat, or was it an indoor-outdoor cat?
Either way, there is a website that has VERY helpful information about how to
recover your cat. But I warn you: You might have to do some real work to
make things happen!
Go to this web address and check it out:

Good Luck!

Our cat will escape once in a while, but she always finds her way back.

Are you staying at your girlfriend's house? If not, the cat will try and return to its home.

Panic over!!! At about midnight I found Ted chowing down on one of the
trays of tuna I had left out for him. He looked at me as if to say
"what's all the fuss about"!!!
I was worried because we are not at my girlfriend's house (which is
about 100 miles from here), so Ted was in a strange place. He'd only
been here about ten days or so and hadn't been out at all. I guess
that's why I was so worried about losing him.
Anyway, panic over - thank you everyone for your help!!!

I read in some cat books that they have been known to find their way
back to their owners houses from like miles and miles away. I'm still
worried to let my newest cat go outside, but my other 2 always come
back when they want food.
