Hello,
My wife & I recently adopted a 6-year old female "inside the house" cat
from a family friend. She follows me around the house constantly, and
loves it when I pet her. When she is not in-heat, she is generally
good, and usually pees in her litter box or the bathtub, which is
acceptable. However, she does sometimes bite us while we are petting
her, as if to say "continue, don't stop petting me". Our bigger
concerns arise when she is in-heat, as she pees frequently and all over
the house, creating a mess. Also, she jumps onto prohibited locations,
such as on the dining room table or the kitchen countertop. Can anyone
make any suggestions as to how to better control her biting, peeing
"spots", and jumping?
thanks in advance.

Have the cat spayed.

I agree totally agree with the spay and after that, the OP might consider
practising a bit of "good old fashioned" discipline when it comes to jumping
on to tables and countertops.

Having her spayed will only help with the peeing outside of the litter box.
Try squirting her with a water bottle everytime you catch her in a place
where you do not want her to be. It worked with my cat. It took about a
month for the new behavior to set in and he needs a reminder every now and
then. When she bites is it hard or soft?
