my cat was attacked by a crazy devil cat last night in our own garden.

my cat is badly wounded - many bleeding wounds on her butt, paws and
left thigh which causes tough time walking. the worse wound is in her
tale - skin splits up and bone shows.

we quickly applied some human-use medicine so the bleeding stopped.

problem is, she has REJECTED ANY FOOD FOR & NO POO NO PEE FOR 24 HOURS.
she is just lying and sleeping.

IS ABOVE A NORMAL REACTION WHEN A CAT GOT ATTACKED?
ANY DO-IT-YOURSELF (DIY) WAY TO HEAL HER WOUNDS?
HOW TO TAKE CARE OF HER AT THIS STAGE - LEAVE HER ALONE OR GIVE HER
MORE CARING??

she is 8 years old. we do not have had experience of caring a cat. a
friend just asked us to babysit her cat in Feb and never take it back
since then. and now family love this cat.

thank you in advance for advice!!

Please take her to the vet immediately! No, it is NOT normal for a cat to
react like this. BTW, is she desexed?

Thank you Flippy! Thank you Ariel!

We just came back from the vet.
- cleaned up the wounds and flushed out the infections
- got an injection and assigned "amoxicillin" 3cc twice a day for 12
days.
- need 200cc water a day
- hope will start eating soft food tomorrow
- since our cat is old and weak, stitch will be operated after he gains
engergy back

We also checked with our neighbor.
Our cat was attacked by RACCOON (more than one)
Our neighbor saw raccoon came down from fences from our direction that
night
Also our neighbor's cat was attacked by raccoon a year ago, with
absolute the same symptons as my poor cat today.
It takes their cat 9 months to start growing hairs back

SPECIAL THANKS TO FLIPPY FOR YOUR QUICK RESPONSE !!

Do you guys have any recommendation -- which soft food can arouse the
injured cat's desire for food?

Try sardines mixed with the regular food she's been eating.  Or
any fancy high-end brand that has seafood in aspic.

One of my cats decided to stop eating - vet found no reason - we
ended  up force feeding her with a syringe for 3 weeks, then she
began to eat proplan foods - the seafood in aspic varieties
worked best.  Slowly transfered to her regular wet food over
several months.  She dropped to barely 7 lbs from 15 - now she
is holding steady at 12, and eating dry kibbles as well.

A dehydrated cat won't show interest in food.

Having volunteered in shelters, I've found that slightly warmed canned cat
food often helps. (You can heat it briefly in a microwave oven. Do not make
it hot, just warm to touch. It'd take only 10-15 seconds, depending on the
microwave and quantity of food.) I believe this helps because warming it
tends to enhance its smell. For the same reason, more "smelly" food is
supposed to work better, but individual cat's preference plays a role of
course. So you may want to try different foods.

One of the things I'd personally do, when the cat doesn't show immediate
interest, is to put a bit of the warmed food at the tip of my finger. I'd
quietly hold it at about 1" from the cat's nose, with a stretched out arm.
If you hold the finger still, the cat would usually move its nose closer to
smell it. When the nose approaches my finger, I'd move it closer quickly to
put a bit of food on the cat's nose and then immediately pull back (so as
not to alarm/threaten the cat. The cat would then invariably lick off the
food on the nose, and often this gets the cat started in eating the food if
you put it near the cat at this point. (I hope I'm making sense.)

I'm very sorry to hear about the injuries and I'm very glad that you took
the cat the vet because it most definitely needed the medical attention. I
remember a friend of mine telling me that her beloved childhood pet cat
died from injuries after being attacked by racoons...

Our cat passed away yesterday.
He developed serious jaundice caused by infections of the wounds.
The jaundice damaged his liver. He had desire to eat (went to his own
bowl and looked at his favorite salmon we put in there), but his
stomache just couldn't take it. He put his energy hard to refuse intake
any food (even by force feeding). a big pain for the cat and for us.

He was just a timid cat. For an unknown reason, he was attracted by
outside stuff and just jumped out of the window that late raining night
around 10.

We feel so sad and in big big sorrow, even now we just can't stop our
sadness of losing him. He was just with us for 5 months but he was like
our family. He did not like his original place (why his owner could not
take him home successfully many times); he just liked to stick with our
family, even liked to die in here. He was doing good the day before
yesterday. Yesterday morning we found two balls of poo poo's. We have
never being so happy to see poo poo in our lives. But he did not do
well yesterday actually, so the poo poo did not mean anything as the
vet said that po po shows his internal functions got back to work. He
was just waiting and waiting for me to go downstairs (we took turn to
watch and care him), then he licked in few drops of water I fed him. He
stood up and threw up all stuff in his stomache and fell down. I and
mom were holding him trying to help relieve his pain. He was dying so
painfully, and we were crying so hard. We just feel so sad. If we did
not cook something that late night, we wouldn't open kitchen window. If
we did not open kitchen window, furball wouldn't jump out.. very very
said long weekends for us, and we have no idea when we would stop our
tears.

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. I was hoping for the best, and am
now shocked to learn the worst.

It's doubly sad that this had to happen after he found a better place where
he was obviously much loved, and where he enjoyed staying. Unfortuntely bad
things sometimes happen in spite of best of our efforts and intentions. And
we are reminded that we are not in control of the final outcomes.

That being the case, I'm at least glad to know that Furball was much loved
by his new family for the last 5 months, where he was happy.

I shall walk in the sun alone
Whose golden light you loved:
I shall sleep alone
And, stirring, touch an empty place:
I shall write uninterrupted
(Would that your gentle paw
Could stay my moving pen just once again!).

I shall see beauty
But none to match your living grace:
I shall hear music
But not so sweet as the droning song
With which you loved me.

I shall fill my days
But I shall not, cannot forget:
Sleep soft, dear friend,
For while I love you shall not die.

I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you.
