Do cats ever 'spray' other cats?  We have a male cat who's been out
ratting around and when he came home, smells like another cat may have
sprayed him.  If they're sprayed, does anyone know what might get that
stench out of their coat?  TIA
patga - 27 May 2005 12:41 GMT
I've never seen a cat spray another cat.  Is your cat neutered?

I've never heard of it.

It might be some of his own spray. If you're brave enough to give him a
bath, that would help remove the smell.

Give him a bath in tomato juice then cat shampoo. Worked for my cat after
being sprayed by a skunk. That's why he is now confined to the house.

Your cat was probably in a scruffle with another cat.  When they get
*really* angry, they pee.  So you're cat got pissed off, and then got pissed
on!!!

Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Or really scared, they pee themselves

Sounds like a plausible explanation delivered with a sense of humor.

Hell, one of my "boys" sprayed *me* (after which I chased him around the
house, dunked him in the toilet and spiked him into the litterbox... I
think he got the idea)

Dunno.... soap and water? (wet a sponge and rub him down)

Ah... another disciple of the "catch in the act = drop kick to the litter
box" school of thought.   Welcome.

I usually only have one definitive "rule": no cats on the kitchen
counter (my cats are very well behaved).  Apart from that they're
allowed to be cats... with the previously noted exception; young male
cats are furry little pricks.

You have to have a sense of humour to "own" a cat.

When male cats have at it, I've seen them spray one another, looks kind of
like an accident, like they're spraying the territory, and get ambushed...

Check cover's replies in that thread.

Cover's system time has obviously been corrected - days ago.
