Our old mother cat has often turned up with "presents" which she puts on the
middle of the floor. They are mostly things like fruit fallen from the tree
etc; but the other day I found three little ducklings ( unharmed) quacking
on the floor with mother cat sitting proudly next to them!  Their owner has
now made sure she locks the gate!!
