Hi Everyone,

I need help with my neighbor's cat.  I own a small old dog, that weighs
6 1/2 lbs, who because of his age needs access to the outside during
the day to my fenced backyard.  The problem is one of my neighbors has
a cat which they allow to roam day and night.  The cat, which is twice
the size of my dog, has now started entering my home.  This is
unacceptable to me because I am allergic to cats, it is a danger to my
dog, and where I live it is illegal.

I am willing to ignore the cat being in my yard to be neighborly as
long as I can find a way to keep it out of my house.  Does anyone here
have any suggestions?

Best Regards,

Lance.

You could install an electronic pet door that would be exclusive to your
dog.

I doubt that the cat will attack the dog unless provoked.  In fact, they may
well be friends.

cats roam, it's what they do.  there isn't a hell of a lot a person
can do to stop their cats from roaming around.
how is the cat getting into your house??  keep your windows and doors
shut and you wont have a  problem.

Borrow a small animal trap from the local animal shelter.  Once the
cat is trapped, you have several options:

Me, I just take the cat and the trap back to the animal shelter.  If
the shelter asks if you know who the owner is, I might give them the
neighbors name and phone #.

After a couple of trips to the shelter, the cat owner will get the
idea.

You could, if you wanted to preserve the peace, call the owner and
tell them to come get their cat.  After being inconvenienced enough,
they will take action to control the cat. If they refuse to come get
the cat, take it to the shelter.
