My cat keeps scratching and chewing into its fur, leaving tufts of fur
around. I am certain it is not fleas. A vet told me it must be
"something in his environment" that he is allergic to. Any
suggestions?
Thanks

He could be allergic to something, or maybe he's stressed. Has anything
changed in the routine? Anything new?
What are you feeding and what is the condition of his coat? Perhaps simply
adding some omega 3 oil to his diet will help.

My calico recently had a sever case of dermitius. She was so bad, I
thought she had thyroid problem. (All the symptoms fit.) Vet said
no. She gave her a shot (I can't remember what), and some hairball
ointment to help with all the licking.
Within two days, she was running around playing again, and not
licking.
