We have had a problem for several months with our cat urinating, in the same
place on our carpet.  (No bladder or other problems reported by the vet.)  A
neighbor of mine had a similar problem (can't get the smell out).  She had
replaced the carpet 2 times and  still had the problem with the smell (the
urine and gone down through the carpet and padding and had soaked into the
floor.)

Her remedy was to pull up that portion of the carpet and paint the floor
(plywood, not hardwood) with any kind of indoor wall paint.  The urine would
seep up and bead on top of the paint.  She told me the paint draws the urine
out of the wood.  She had to repeat this a few times, but finally the urine
was removed and she no longer had the smell.  (There was a paint smell for
awhile, but that goes away.)

Has anyone heard of this?  Isn't there an easier method to remove the stain
and the odor?  I don't want to have to rip up the carpet, if I don't have
to.  I have tried, those oxy cleaners, the odor remover shampoo for The Rug
Doctor and several other ideas.  After the carpet dries completely, she
smell returns.  I really want to solve this before the weather changes and I
have to close all the windows!

Help would be appreciated.

I used Out on a dog urine spot after I had tried everything else.  As
I recall I used it full strength, let it set for awhile to soak in and
then blotted it up with paper towels.  Then I used a steam cleaner
with Out instead of shampoo in the tank.  After all of this I actually
got down on my hands and knees with my nose on the carpet and couldn't
smell the urine smell any longer.  You do have to let the Out soak in
so that it goes all the way through the carpet and pad down to the
bare floor.

I'm not sure where you live, but there is a product called "Nature's Miracle" that is
formulated for just such things. It is an enzyme based cleaning agent that neutralizes
animal odours on fabrics, carpets, and just about anything else.

Sorry for piggy backing to my own post, but I forgot to add that no matter where you live
you should be able to find an online source to get this. Conduct a google search for
Nature's Miracle and see what you can find.

To add to this thread....

How do you STOP a cat from urning at the same area of a carpet?
I steamed cleaned the carpet today and used Odor Gone in hope of helping.
Any ideas of why she is doing this?

Thanks ahead of time,

Ron

Does this remedy also work on moronic NetTrolls with no sex life?

Hey,
I have a cat that has a disease, she's pretty much retarded. She doesn't
have balance, she pretty much just flopps through the rooms or lean up
against walls to get were she is going. She doesn't always make it to the
toilet so I have the same poblem as you. I went out and found this product
called OZIUM, Its an air sanitizer it seems to do the trick.Good luck!
