I am now the proud owner of a beautiful orange striped kitty, 2 months old.
I have him eating dry kitty chow and using the litter box for #2 but not for
#1...?
He wont go #1 in the box...why?
How do I get him to do both in the box.....
Any info will help

Some cats do not like to do both in the same box (in the wild they will not
do both in the same area). Try getting another box ans she if he will do
one in one box and another in the second box.

Liz,
Two months old .. sounds like a sweetie. One reason for not doing both in
the box may be the type of litter you are using. Also, it may be the size
of the box ... male cats tend to want more room to do #1 and usually make
their liquid deposits along the edges. I blend the non-scented scoopable
litter with a product called Yesterday's News (which is compressed recycled
newspaper made into pellets). These pellets I place heavier along the edges
of the catbox to absorb more urine and odor. Realize many cats will not
urinate in cedar or pine chip litters .. and mine have distinct aversion to
any scented litters. I recommend the Yesterday's News for the entire catbox
if you have to have the box in an area that you frequent .. it is super for
odor control. I was surprised to see how well my 3 cats went for it.
A few questions to ask here further are .. where does he urinate? Your bed?
On your laundry? In the corners? The drain in the bathtub/shower? Also, is
it a full fledged wetting or do you notice a short tail-flickering where he
does a little spray? Is there a strong odor to the urine? Or no odor? I
had a cat that preferred to urinate over the drain in my bathtub .. gee,
wish they all would do that!
Most kittens do both in a catbox, but when they don't there are various
reasons .. first things to consider is if this is a normal thing for your
cat, or a behavoral or medical issue to address. Another thing to ... er
... ask .. how often do you scoop the litter box?
