My daugthter has a kitten and wants to keep
it indoors as a house cat. I think this is cruel
as cats should be allowed outside to play and
learn about the world.
Any thoughts on who is correct.

Really depends on who you ask. Many of us think it is cruel to expose a cat
to the many dangers out of doors....cars, dogs, other cats, cruel humans,
inclement weather, wild animals, disease, parasites.....also, someone who
might think that your cat is such a cute kitty and decide to keep it for
themselves.
Then, there are some who think nothing of allowing a cat to free roam and
possibly encounter some of the fools who post on this ng asking for advice
on how to poison a cat that wanders into their yard.
Personally, I believe there is a happy medium. Cat enclosures/runs. The cat
has the best of both worlds. They can enjoy the out doors while staying
safe.

There's more of a risk with letting a
cat wander outdoors, depending on the
area you live in. A single fight involving
injuries to your cat could cost hundreds
of dollars with the Vet. Also, there are
diseases the cannot be vaccinated against.
As long as you provided enough kitty toys
to keep the cat amused indoors, I don't
see a problem.
Again, it depends on the area you're in.
If you have acreage, then the cat will
probably stay on your property. But if
you're on a lot, there's road hazards,
other people's pets, etc.
Just my opinion, though...

Hi! I can't write anglish very well but I'll try :-))
My cat is in house all the time. We leave in big city near dangerous road.
Milka (it's my cat's name) has toys and me to play.
She's really happy and in good health but I propose that you should have two
cats. They will play together and have a lot of fun.
In my country it is considered that one cat in house is bad idea.
