If you buy dog or cat food from the Iams Pet Food Company, you need to
visit a website iamscruelty.com.
Apparently, Iams keeps cats and dogs to TEST their foods on before it
goes to market. I had no idea pet food manufacturers used animals to
make a better food - but some do! Iams keeps cats and dogs in cages to
take blood, stool, urine and even muscle tissue samples as they
conduct nutritional testing. I was extremely upet to learn this and
immediately researched pet food companies that do not test on animals
- and there are a lot of them! My puppies now eat Wellness food and
they love it! No animal testing on this stuff!
Anyone who loves cats and dogs MUST visit iamscruelty.com and send an
email to Iams and tell them to stop testing on poor kitties and
puppies!!!

If you buy products from the majority of the companies listed here, then you
need to write to them as well. It's not only pet food manufacturers who test
on animals.

Proctor & Gamble bought the Iams company a couple years back. Of course,
most everyone knows that P&G uses animals for testing, and from the looks of
things, has no intention of stopping in the near future, unfortunaltely.
However, IAMS *is* doing something about how they research with the help of
the HSUS. Here's a link to an article on the HSUS site. Maybe it will make
you feel a little better about this particular brand.

My Veterinarian (exotics & cats only) recommended Nutro (available @
Petsmart) as being really good for my two cats.
I was using IAMS - and within a month of switching - I noticed an
improvement in the sheen of their coats. (the Vet said this would be
noticable)
I checked their web-site, I don't see anything about animal testing -
and I don't see them on the list of the second poster.

The cost is about the same as IAMS - and there's quite a variety of
flavors - my cats like it. The nutro logo on the bags (dry food) is
not real big - MAX CAT is in large letters with the Nutro Logo (small)
above it. They have their own side of the isle at Petsmart.
[disclaimer] I'm not affiliated with Nutro - nor do I own stock in the
company!
My two cents.

I suppose I don't follow your logic here. I love my cat and wouldn't mind
feeding it a food extensively tested by other cats during production. At
least I know I'm feeding my cat a safe food FOR cats, designed FOR cats,
tested and approved BY other cats. Can you say that about your cat food?
NO. You may be subjecting your cat to long term harm and pain due the
unique physiology of cats. Why? Because your cat food has not been proven
by cats themselves to be a safe, quality food. In a way I see you as the
evil one here. Quite a risk taker with your own cat. How well do you
really love it?
