Hello, I have a cat that has been diagnosed with asthma. The vet currently
has him on prednisone but I'm looking into inhalers. Does anyone use one on
their cat(s)?
Oh, and re compromised immune system of asthmatics.
My vet ruled out further innoculations
for my cat due to the compromised immune system.
Check with yours on the subject. You don't
want to accidentally do anything that might
not be in the asthmatic's best interest.
Many asthmatic cats can be stabilized for
six months, or a year, with just a couple
weeks use of prednisolone. Inhalers are
for those who can't , obviously.
Have you tried brethine in conjunction with
the prednisolone? 1/2 of a 2.5 mg tablet twice
a day is a normal dosage. Terbutaline sulfate
is the generic. Inexpensiveto try.
Some find aminophylline works if Brethine doesn't.
1/4 of 100 mg tablet twice a day.
Inexpensive also.
Some add cyproheptadine in with either of the above.
Seems to aid fewer people, but has helped some.
1/2 4mg tablet twice a day.
