I should explain that I have taken my cat on trips in a carrier of course.
She cries the whole way, that is why I was looking for an alternate plan
where I could perhaps hold her and she would be safely belted in with the
lap belt.

I never expected such rudeness in the answers, that is a shame and no I am
not in the UK breaking laws or the US.

Mine cry, too. Cats hate change. Talk to your vet about getting some
kitty valium.

As to the rudeness, most of us consider our cats as family and any
endangerment of them will provoke negative responses. Don't take it
personally; just see if there isn't something you can do to alleviate
her anxiety. Better yet, leave her in familiar surroundings and hire a
pet sitter.
