Yes, My kitties(Jack and Jill), my turtle(JT) and our ferret(Missy) are my
babies, as well as my daughter and her kitty(Princess). We all live together.
The babies are a great source of comfort and companionship for the both of us.
I "saved" jack and Jill at the age of 2 weeks when their mama actually threw
them out of the nest. they were, at that time, introduced to kitten milk and
an infant med dropper as well as JT.as they grew they munched on my lap with
what i ate-fruit, veggies, or whatever. the three of them became fast and
close friends. When Jack and Jill were three, we moved to another state and
got married-turned out to be a bad idea :-)-married-that is. LMAO Jack
decided then to pee on my hubbies pillow everytime he upset me. hence-no
hubby now. so we moved back to our home. sold it and moved clear across the
country to be near my human kids. found a roommate. everything was great
until roomy decided to bring a man home for the night. Jack peed on my bed
everytime roomy's boyfriend spent the night. i knew the problem. dominence. I
told boyfriend to stare him down when on their bed. it worked. no more pee on
my bed. well, they moved out and my single adult daughter moved in. the 2 of
us rescued a ferret. Jack gets along so well with the ferret that the 2 of
them are taking on each others habits a bit as well as sleep and play
together. the turtle fits in quite well there because Jill has formed the
same relationship with JT. even Princess gets along well with all here.
Princess is a rescued cat and half bobcat as well. such a sweety she is. all
cats have been neutered and spayed when they were 6 months old and all are
total indoor kitties that would be envied by other kitties for all the toys
and furniture we have just for them to use and play with as well as our
playtime with them. at the age of five, Jack became seriously allergic to all
cat food. i put him on fresh veggies and fruit until he healed. it worked
real well, now he eats everything-we call him our garbage pit. :-) he loves
ferret treats too but they are too high a protein for him so we limit him on
quanitity of that source. now i have a new problem- since the windows have
been opened this spring, Jack has decided to spray when he never has before.
i have after much deduction and brain thought as well as observation and
research- have come to the conclusion that the spraying is his way of marking
territory from the oudoor cats in the neighborhood. now, my problem is how do
i keep him from seeing them and still keep his window open for him to enjoy
the fresh air? how do i discourage the neighborhood cats from coming around?
getting rid of him is NOT an option so don't even suggest it. since this is
an apartment with landlords running around i don't need my place smelling
like boy cat spray. i use kitty friendly stuff to rid the odor but how to
prevent it from happening is another. I really need advice and suggestions
and would appreciate all i can get. :-) and yes they see vets regularly for
shots, etc. vet said to thinkn about putting him on either a cat hormone for
a few months or prozac. help, i don't like either thought but.................
..........................what to do.

Try the Feliway plugin in the room he is in the most. Use odor
removers wherever he pees.
The cheapest Feliway is sold by Jeffers. Google them.

Thanx, I will try it. but what do i do to discourage the outside kitties so
they don't come around? they are not strays, but neighbors' kitties. all but
one is neutered and that one nobody knows who it belongs to but it sure is
healthy looking and wears a collar with no ID

Buy a really good water pistol and squirt the outside kitties whenever
you see them. This should keep them away without causing problems with
the neighbors.

do a 2 bedroom apartment or do i need one for each room? or just the ones he
uses. Jack sleeps in both our bedrooms, living room and eats in the kitchen.

One should do the whole apartment-Just place it near where he was the
most badly behaved. If you can't pin that down, the middle of the
apartment should work.
Feliway works for me but it is not 100% foolproof. Good luck!

ThANK YOU SO MUCH! The diffuser is working what I call a miracle. not only
is Jack not spraying, but his tummy is settling better too, and he isn't
trying to mate with his sister. LOL the diffuser is also helping Princess,
and Jill. we can walk up behind princess now and not get attacked. Wow. It is
money well worth being spent.
