Like Ms. Fisher and SilverUnicorn, our 16 year old Himalayan male has
decided that the litter box is only necessary for urinating. He is
depositing his fecal matter anywhere that is carpeted. Luckily, his poop is
always in the form of hard little grape sized pellets. Until the last month
or so he has been a real trooper and would never make a mess on the floor.
The only thing that has changed in his world is that we've moved his food
away from the vicinity of the litter box. Maybe we should try putting it
back.
I'd appreciate any help you might offer.

As you read in the other post definitely a vet visit for an older cat is
required
Also make sure you chemically clean the areas even if you don't see anything
there olfactory is 1000% better than ours
Yes put he food dish back where it was remember how old he is in human
terms 16 equals 73
Also has he always had such hard fecal matter if not the vet needs to know
he might be constipated and needs a enema for a release or a change in his
diet
Good luck if you have any other questions ask away but let us know the
results

I would move the food dish back, since this started after that was moved.
See if that helps.
Sorry to hear of the problem. Our cat seems to be back to normal. Hopefully
you will have the same outcome.
Good luck Arlyn. Let us know how it works :-)
