I recently went on vacation and left my cats here at home. When I came
back, my male cat had evidently gotten into a fight. One of his perfect
blue eyes was brown with a giant black spot taking over most of it. It
also looked like it had a little blood in it, which has gone away now. I'm
just wondering if he could possibly still see out of this eye and if it
will clear up or not. Can anything be done to help him and should I take
him to see the vet? Any help or information would be wonderful.
Thanks,
Morgan

Yes, a trip to the vet is in order. If he'll allow it, you might put
an icepack on periodically until you can get him in. If it's just a
bruise, it will most likely be reabsorbed in time.
Does he act as if he can see out of the eye? That's usually the best
indication. I'm hoping he'll be fine.

His eye really doesn't seem to bother him at all, almost like he doesn't
even notice there's anything wrong, so that makes me think he can see out
of it. It actually looks almost 80% better now. his whole is brown now
(but like i said, it was bright blue) and I can actually see his pupil,
and he has a little black spot at bottom that gets smaller everyday (it
was taking over his whole eye). So I really think he is going to be fine.
I may still take him in for a check up next tues. because that's the day I
have to take my other cat and one of my dogs. :)
Thanks for replying.
